Fields Crops

Mission:

ÖG1) To educate qualified agricultural engineers who are equipped with contemporary knowledge and experience in the fields of cereals and edible legumes, industrial crops, forage crops of pasture-meadow lands, and who meet the needs of the agricultural sector and agriculture-based industry, both nationally and internationally..

ÖG2) To conduct research on agricultural issues at national and international levels, to carry out R&D-supported projects, and to publish the results nationally and internationally.

Vision:

  • To adhere to and uphold scientific ethical principles in education, research, and extension activities,

  • To effectively teach technical and general skills within the framework of academic responsibility and with respect for alternative learning methods,

  • To reach diverse segments of society, to serve industry and agricultural practice, to make academic life meaningful in local, national, and global contexts, and to contribute to university communities,

  • To teach the ability to push boundaries by becoming members of professional and academic communities and by engaging in technology transfer,

  • To offer student-centered, participatory, and interactive education rather than instructor-centered teaching,

  • To become a national leader in its field and to reach a level of development that is competitive on an international scale.

Strategies:

To realize our vision and fulfill our mission:

  • Transition from instructor-centered teaching to interactive, student-centered education that emphasizes production, practice, and individual work,

  • Improve research infrastructure; increase the number of multidisciplinary and integrated projects supported by institutions such as TÜBİTAK, the European Union, ministries, and the World Bank; promote participation in and development of such projects,

  • Encourage and expand publications in national and international journals, participation in national and international scientific meetings, and involvement in scientific and technical consultancy,

  • Actively use existing infrastructures (or establish them if absent) for short-, medium-, and long-term faculty and student exchanges with leading universities in the field.
